Neptune Technology Group’s New State-of-the-Art Research and Development Facility
TALLASSEE, ALABAMA, [April 12, 2010] – Neptune cut the ribbon on its exciting new R&D facility to continue its journey on the cutting edge of research and development. On March 24th, 2009 Neptune broke ground, and a little more than a year later, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the $3.7 million, 19,000-square-foot Donald J. Kullmann Engineering Center.
With its beautiful glass-and-steel structure, the building was designed with high ceilings above individual offices, promoting a creative, open atmosphere.
Our primary goals for this state-of-the-art facility included:
- To leverage our technological capabilities to better serve our utility customers, with leading-edge radio frequency design, metering design, meter reading systems, and utility management software for water, gas, and electric utilities;
- To promote project team collaboration;
- To provide an attractive and efficient work environment for our employees that supports open communication and team collaboration;
- To support environmental sustainability with a facility that uses efficient design and resource conserving technologies.
The Kullmann Engineering Center is the latest addition to Neptune’s headquarters in Tallassee, with each facility committed to providing utilities the most advanced AMR/AMI systems on the market today.
Since its founding in 1892, Neptune Technology Group has provided the utility industry with innovative meter reading and metering technologies to better serve its communities. Neptune strives to be the most valued partner of our utility customers. We provide utility management systems, service, and support to help our customers manage their resources more efficiently and more effectively serve their customers. Neptune applies innovative technologies to develop reliable, integrated systems that meet the specific needs of each utility.
The Donald J. Kullmann Engineering Center is named for long-time employee and engineering vice president, Donald J. Kullmann. Mr. Kullmann was hired by Neptune on March 13, 1972 to lead engineering development when Neptune relocated its manufacturing facility from Long Island, New York to Tallassee, Alabama. According to Chuck DiLaura, President of Neptune Technology Group Inc., “Don’s designs and many patents are present in millions of water meters throughout North America that continue to operate and generate revenue for thousands of water utilities.” Mr. Kullmann retired from Neptune on March 1, 1998; however, he continues to be involved in Neptune’s design and development process as a consultant – bringing his service to Neptune to over 38 years.
Says Kullmann, “I have enjoyed my long career experience with Neptune and the many friendships formed during that period. I feel truly and deeply honored to have this new facility named for me. I hope that through the years to come it will inspire even higher levels of technical excellence.”
